Sanitary Tri Clover Fittings

Tri Clover (Tri-Clamp) sanitary ball valves and butterfly valves are the industry standard for process flow control in hygienic environments like commercial brewing, food processing, dairy, and pharmaceuticals.
Both types utilize a quick-disconnect flange system sealed with a gasket and a clamp to prevent bacterial growth or contamination.
However, choosing between a ball valve and a butterfly valve depends heavily on your flow control, cleaning, and pressure requirements.

Ball valves are recommended for controlling flow rates.
Butterfly Valves are typically used at vessel outlets and on fermenters.
Ball Valves are best used on pump outlets and vessel returns such as mash tun, sparge and *vorlauf returns.
*Vorlauf is derived from the German verb "vorlaufen" , defined as "run ahead". In brewing, this is when the wort is initially run off from your lauter tun into a vessel called a "grant".
The "runnings" are recirculated from the grant back on top of the grain bed until the wort begins to run clear prior to proceeding with a normal sparge.
