QTH-2 Quick Tap Line Tap Valve Self Tapping 1/4" Flare for 3/8", 1/2" 5/8"od tube Watsco AP-2

The QTH-2 line piercing tool features a valve core in the 1/4 in. male port. Simply pierce the line and back seat the needle. The flow starts when the depressor type charging hose is connected. The flow shuts off automatically when hose is removed. If the valve core is not desired it may be removed. Connect hose, pierce line, and back seat needle. Valve core can be removed or changed at any time without loss of refrigerant if needle is front seated.
A quick tap (or line tap) valve is primarily used to create a permanent or temporary access point on a pressurized line without needing to shut down or drain the system.
Quick tap line tap valves (or line-piercing valves) are used for instant, no-braze access to pressurized refrigerant lines (HVAC/R) for charging, recovering, or testing without system shutdown. They are ideal for repairing leaks, installing gauges, and connecting new components in residential, commercial, or industrial plumbing, gas, and water applications.
Multiple Applications
  • HVAC & Refrigeration Services: Used by technicians to pierce refrigerant lines for charging, evacuation, or diagnostic pressure readings on sealed systems like refrigerators, ice machines, and air conditioners.
  • System Maintenance: Enables the addition of service ports to older systems that lacked them originally, allowing for routine maintenance without line disruption.
  • Leak Recovery: Facilitates the immediate evacuation of refrigerant from a system when a leak is detected or before equipment disposal.
  • Plumbing & Water Systems: Applied in "wet tapping" scenarios to create new branch connections or install flow meters and sensors on existing water or sewer lines while they remain under pressure.
  • Industrial Fluid Control: Used in high-pressure environments, such as refineries or steam lines, to manage flow and isolate segments for repair through techniques like "hot tapping".
