R.O. Replacement Water Filter Cartridges
- Pre Filter=Sediment Filter (Stage 1): Usually made of melt-blown polypropylene, it removes larger particles like dirt, rust, sand, and silt to protect the more delicate subsequent filters from clogging.
- Pre Filter=Carbon Pre-Filters (Stages 2 & 3): Often a combination of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and Carbon Block cartridges. These remove chlorine, chloramines, and organic chemicals that can damage the RO membrane and cause bad tastes or odors.
- Reverse Osmosis Membrane (Stage 4): The "heart" of the system, this semi-permeable TFC (Thin Film Composite) membrane removes up to 99% of total dissolved solids (TDS), including lead, arsenic, and fluoride.
- Polishing Post-Carbon Filter (Stage 5): Typically an inline coconut shell carbon filter that removes any residual taste from the storage tank before the water reaches your faucet.
